Harris Teeter, Craig's List, and Plum District

Plum District has a promo code up right now (SUMMER2012) for 20% off your entire purchase - good through August 8th (Wednesday). Normally, they'll either apply a discount code or Plum Dollars that you have in your account (they award them periodically for creating an account, referring a friend, etc.). But, I had $5 credit in my account and they applied both the discount code AND the $5! The deal I particularly like right now is:

Turn Your Favorite Photo into Wall Art

Includes FREE Standard Shipping

$27 for a 11x11 Canvas Print - a $53 Value
$28 for an 11x14 Canvas Print - a $60 Value
$37 for an 16x20 CanvasPrint - an $87 Value

I got the 16x20 canvas voucher for only $24.60 + free shipping (about $100 value)! I can't wait to use these to get some photos turned into beautiful art work! If you're not a plum district subscriber, click here to sign up for free!

Harris Teeter - ready, set, clip!!! HT will be doing another amazing Super-Double Coupon event . . . and they'll be doubling up to $2 face value! So now is the time to use those coupons that are$1.50 (they're worth $3 at HT) and the few rare $2.00 coupons (they're worth $4 at HT)!!! The promo starts on Wednesday, August 8th and will run all the way through the following Tuesday, August 14th.

Craig's List - have you forgotten about this amazing "service"? I've just recently gotten reacquainted with it and am totally re-sold! I have a slight obsession with Pottery Barn furniture - although I just can't afford to pay full-price for it. So I've been scouting out Craig's List on a daily basis and here is what I've learned:
  • Don't search for the item you're looking for, search for the brand. I've been just entering "Pottery Barn" in the search box and I get to see everything that anyone is selling from PB. Otherwise, I have to sift through hundreds of ads for furniture that I have absolutely no interest in.
  • Never pay more than 50% of the original price of the item; significantly less if it's older.
  • Always negotiate price; it is absolutely expected on Craig's List. Even people who say "price firm". Make an offer! Seriously, what's the worst they can say?
  • If they're not close-by, be pro-active and offer to pay full asking price if they'll deliver the item - or at least meet you somewhere.
  • Be patient and check back daily. People post things all the time - so just check back on a daily basis to see what's new - and to see who still has something they're trying to get rid of. People who post, re-post, and re-post day after day - really want to get rid of whatever they're selling. Those are the people who are willing to deal!

So that's it for now! Good luck and happy shopping!

Combining Deals

You can often save big bucks when you combine a variety of deals/offers! Just this morning, I combined a fantastic sale, with ebates, and shop runner to save myself over 50%. Here's what I did:
barenecessities.com is having a fantastic sale on bras: buy 1, get another for 75% off (doesn't have to be the same bra). Plus, use code XTRA15 at checkout and get an additional 15% your entire order. So here's what I did:

  • Logged in to my ebates account and did a search for bare necessities. They're offering 4% cash back! So I clicked on the "Shop Now" button and they automatically directed me to barenecessities.
  • I bought 2 bras on sale for $35 each. After discounts, they came out to $7.22 and $29.75 each.
  • When I got to the place where I enter in shipping preference, I logged into my shoprunner account (they have a button there where you can do it directly from their page and it automatically calculates). So I got my shipping for free!
All totaled I got two bras shipped to my door for $36.97 + I'll get $1.47 deposited into my ebates account. That means I've really spent a total of $35.50 for 2 bras that normally would have cost me $70 + $5.00 shipping. Plus, I guess since I bought this on tax-free weekend here in NC, I didn't have to pay tax either! :-)

If you're unfamiliar with ebates, you can join here! And if you're unfamiliar with Shoprunner, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial here

Plum District has a similar deal going on right now, but theirs is significantly more expensive ($39 for one 16x20 + $14 shipping). So if you're like me and wanting to turn some of those amazing vacation pics into some wall art - this may be the deal for you! Click here to take a look!

Minted

Minted: Unique and modern personalized stationery. Printed on luxe paper and delivered in an embossed white gift box.

I was recently reminded how much I love this site and the quality of their products. I've bought their calling cards, journals, return address labels, and stationery and loved it all. Click here to get a $25 credit towards your first order! Plus, use code GIFTS10 to get 10% off of any 3 gift items (journals, stationery, return address labels, etc.). Or, use code SUMMERFUN to get 15% off all baby and kids products!

Idea: I love giving their personalized stationery as gifts. There is very little substitution for a nicely hand-written note on fine monogrammed stationery. It's a luxury that we rarely afford ourselves.

Staples Loot

I don't have a picture, but I wanted to let you know about my fantastic run to Staples this evening! Here's what I got:

(2) Roseart Crayons (24 pack) - $.01
(2) Bic Roundstick (10 pack) - $.01
(2) Staples Brand School Glue - $.01
(4) Sharpwriter Mechanical Pencils (10 pack) - $.25  (regularly $3.49 each)
(4) Really Useful Boxes - $.25 (regularly $1.00 each)
(1) 2013 Desktop Calendar - $4.99
(2) Reams of 8.5" x 11" Staples Copy-paper - $6.99
(1) Staples Handy File - $10.49
(1) Staples 3-Tab File Folders - $5.29
(1) Scotch Super Glue - $2.99
(1) Sharpie Fine Markers (5 pack) - $1.00 (regularly $4.79)
Minus 5% for using my Staples Reward Card
Minus $4.00 ink reward coupon I had from turning in an old cartridge
Plus $2.53 in Sales Tax = $37.43

I then went to stapleseasyrebates.com and entered in my rebate information (it was so easy, that I was able to do it while having a fairly serious phone conversation with a close friend). I will receive three rebate checks back:

$13.48 - for the 2 reams of paper (making them only $.25 each)
$4.99 - for the Desktop Calendar (making it free)
$2.99 - for the Super Glue (making it free)
Total Refund: $21.76

Total Net Spent: $15.67

Interesting Note: I needed the Handy File and 3-Tab File Folders that were not on sale, nor did I have coupons for those! Just those two things were $15.78 - my 5% discount + sales tax. Basically what that means is that since I had the $4 coupon, I paid for those two essential items - and then got everything else for free! I hope you can see that you can literally walk into Staples - and come out with about $52.19 for about $3-4. Keep in mind that you do have to pay for the easy rebate items up-front, and then wait for your rebate check to arrive (normally about 4-6 weeks). So much fun! I felt like a kid in a candy store! :-)

Yankee Candle Coupon

Love, love, love Yankee Candles! I've tried others (really good quality ones, too) - and nothing seems to be as fragrant as a Yankee Candle. My favorite scent is still the Cucumber Melon! Anyway - just ran across this coupon (thans hip2save.com) for $10 off of $25 purchase! This coupon can be used at Bed, Bath, and Beyond as well as a lot of other retailers. What I don't know if is BB&B will take this coupon as well as one of their own store coupons?!?!!?! I will look into that and let you know! If so, this could make for a really cheap Yankee Candle!!! Click here for printable coupon!

Yay for FREE Starbucks!!!

Mark your calendars for Friday, July 13th - because Starbucks is giving away 12oz Handcrafted Refresher Beverages from 12:00 - 3:00 pm!!! Choose from Very Berry Hibiscus and Cool Lime! Limited to one per customer with no purchase necessary!!!

Shopping Success

Today I went to CVS to take advantage of their diaper deal this week! CVS is offering $10 is ECB's when you purchase $30 in baby items. There is a wide variety of items available - from diapers, wipes, treats, etc. I needed diapers, so here is what I did:

Transaction #1
Bought 3 packages of Huggies Diapers - on sale for $10 each = $30.00
Used 3 $2.00 coupons from the Sunday paper
Used $5.00 off of a $20.00 purchase (got it from the Magic Coupon Machine when I walked in)
Used $10.00 of CVS Gift Cards (gotten with Viggle Points)
Paid $9.00 + tax
Got Back $10 in ECB's

Transaction #2
Bought 1 package of Huggies Swimmer Diapers - $9.99
Bought 1 package of Pampers Wipes - $3.69
Bought 1 Schick Shave Gel - $4.39
Used 1 Pampers Wipes Coupon - $.75
Used 1 Schick Shave Gel Coupon - $.75
Used 1 CVS coupon for $2/1 Schick Shave Gel (got it from Magic Coupon Machine)
Used the $10 ECB's from the previous purchase
Paid $4.57 + tax

For a total of $13.57 OOP, I felt pretty good! Note that even without the $10 in CVS gift cards,
it still would have been a good deal.

You don't always have to buy a lot of stuff to have great success at the grocery store! I hit Harris Teeter one last time to take advantage of the last day of Super Doubles. Here's what I got:

Propel Water - 6 pack - on sale for $3.00
Used $1.00 coupon that doubled = $1.00

Wisk Detergent - $6.99
Used $2.00 coupon that doubled = $2.99

*Tom's of Main Toothpaste - on sale for $3.00
Used $1.00 coupon that doubled = $1.00

Tom's of Main Deodorant - on sale for $3.00
Used $1.00 coupon that doubled = $1.00

DeerPark Water - 6 pack .5 liters - on sale for $1.00
Bought 2 and used $1.00/2 coupon that doubled = Free

Total Amount: $5.99 + tax for all of the above!

*As a general rule, I never pay for toothpaste. But this is really good quality toothpaste that is usually $4.69/tube and having a coupon for it is rare. So, I was willing to splurge a little! :-)

Updates

Lot 18
This is still one of my favorite deal sites - because it features wine and chocolate; two of my absolute favorite things! They used to have a sign-up bonus that only benefited the person doing the referring, but they've changed it! Now when you sign-up for a free account through this link, you'll get a $10 credit to apply to your first order! Once you've signed up for an account, you can refer your friends and you'll get a $25 credit when they place their first order! This will add up fast and should equal some free or really cheap wine!

Another cool thing they're doing is giving credit when you place orders over $100!
Here's how it works:
For every $100 in orders you submit,
get $10 towards a future purchase (up to $50 credit)!!!

Here's a possible deal scenario:
2006 White Oak Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Half Case - $116.94

Minus Sign-up Bonus of $10 = $106.94 (plus tax)

Shipping = free (because more than 4 bottles)

Minus $10 credit you'll get for your next order!
Total net cost = $96.94 for 6 bottles shipped to your door or $16.15/bottle for wine that normally retails for $33/bottle + shipping

Idea: We're going to the beach next week and I'm thinking this would be a great thing to have delivered to the condo! The last thing I want to do when I'm on vacation is grocery/supply shop! I'll have it delivered to our destination and I'll instantly have wine when I arrive! :-) And not just any wine that I happen to be able to find in the local grocery store - but really good wine at a fantastic price!!!

A Few More Goodies:

Plum District: use promotional code summer20 to save 20% off any deal

Fun Shopping Trip

I went to Harris Teeter today, not to really do any "coupon shopping" - but just to get some necessities. Here are a few things I was pleasantly surprised at:

Fig Newtons on sale B1G1 - only $2.27 each
Added bonus: buy any Fig Newton, get $1.50 off any fruit purchase

12 oz Raspberries on sale B1Gi - only $3.99
Used $1.50 off coupon from the Fig Newton package - and it doubled!!!
So I only paid $.99 for 12 oz. Raspberries - which is an amazing deal!!!

Klondike Bars - eVic Special for only $1.77
Since these are normally $4.49/pack and so incredibly bad for you - I never allow myself this treat. But when I saw that they now have mint-chocolate-chip . . . and I could get them for $1.77 . . .
I could not resist!

Deer Park Water - 6 pack of .5 liter bottles - on sale for $1.00
Buy 2 packs and use the $1.00/2 coupon. During super doubles - it doubles to $2.00 off and that makes both packs of water FREE!!!

And not at Harris Teeter . . .
I'm getting ready to go on a trip for the 4th of July. With as much stuff as I have to pack for a nearly 2-year old (besides myself) - diapers and wipes are not what I really want to be filling my suit-case with. So, I checked out diapers.com and this is what I found:
Case of Pampers Diapers (192) for $47.99
$10 off coupon code OHBABY10D
$5 off coupon code (used my pampers gifts to grow rewards points)
Added Travel pack of 7th Generation Wipes for $1.99 to bring total up to over $49 so I'd qualify for free shipping
Grand total: $34.18
(for the equivalent of 5.3 packs of diapers and a travel pack of wipes - delivered straight to our condo)

I haven't actually placed the order yet, so I'm going to see if I can apply one more $5 code!
If so - that would make this deal go from great to awesome!

If you're new to diapers.com - use code Lisa2848 to get $10 off your 1st purchase!

At Plum District:
Use code TAKE30 to get 30% off of any deal through Sunday, June 24th!

Keepin' it Fresh

So one of my biggest questions from people is: how do you keep yourself motivated to keep doing the "coupon thing". A lot of people get off to an enthusiastic start and fizzle after a few months. But this is not surprising - because it really is a discipline. So don't worry, you're in good company! Here are a few of my thoughts on what you can do to avoid it, or snap out of it:

1) Take a little break when you need it! Don't be afraid to let some deals go by without taking advantage of them. Just because you skip of week (or three) of clipping Sunday paper inserts, or haven't looked at coupons.com in a while, doesn't mean you ought to throw in the towel. Don't worry about "getting caught up". Get your kids to go through your coupon binder and do a little detective work: ask them to go on a hunt for expired coupons and take them all out (and don't worry if they miss a few or take too many - it's worth it not to have to do the whole thing yourself)! Don't try to clip all the coupons that you missed - that will just be an overwhelming task that you'll dread. Just start where you are and gradually re-fill your binder!

2) If you do want to try to clip the missed coupons, call a fellow coupon girl friend and see if she wants to come over for a sip and clip! Have a glass of wine and visit while you clip coupons. Make it fun - not a chore!

3) Take a relaxed approach. Don't run yourself ragged driving all over town every week trying to get to all the stores. Maybe go to Target once a week, and pick the drug store with the best deals for you - and go to only that one. But don't try to do Wal-mart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, and 4 different grocery stores every week. You're just asking to burn-out!

4) Help a coupon newbie! Sometimes helping explain how it all works to someone who is new to it will give you inspiration, remind you of things that you've forgotten, and help ignite a fire!

5) Take a look at your savings and that should be enough to get you smiling! I needed this boost just recently, so I went digging for "pick me ups". Here's what I found:
  • I just cashed in 9,000 Viggle points for a second $5 CVS gift card! Love that they have this reward! I have been off the "CVS circuit" for a little bit and have no ECB's - but now that I have 2 CVS gift cards from Viggle, I can go in and start the cycle again with no out of pocket expense! Love it!
  • I've been a very lax Shopkick user - rarely ever remembering to use it. But I just noticed that I have enough "kicks" to cash in and get a $5 Target gift card! Awesome reward considering I've done pretty much nothing to get it!
  • I've been piling up my Swagbucks and finally cashed them in for amazon credit! I was able to order Egyptian Cotton Towel sets - 4 of each: Bath, Hand, and Wash Towels - and they're shipping for free! All for absolutely zero cost to me because I saved up all my amazon cash! So incredibly excited to get nice, new towels!!!

New Side Bar Item: Gas Alert

As I drive about the city teaching my piano lessons, I always keep my eye out for cheap gas. So I've added the new Gas Alert on the side bar to let you know where to find the cheapest gas around! Always check here first before you head to the pump!

Jun 7, 2012

Good Stuff!

Sorry it's been so long since the last post! Here are a few goodies:

Cheap Gas Alert!!! I travel all over Charlotte: Dilworth, Southpark, Cotswold, Plaza Midwood, Arboretum, Promenade, Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Carmel Commons, Matthews! The cheapest price for gas that I've found is on the corner of Providence and Old Providence at the Exxon station! It's been $3.47/gallon for over a week now. So if you're going to be in that area - definitely plan a fill-up! Not sure it's worth the extra stop? Maybe not if you have to go out of your way. But, if you buy gas at the average price in Charlotte ($3.56/gallon) instead - you'll pay $1.53 more for the same product and an average of $79.56 more per year (based on a 17 gallon tank - and one fill-up per week for 52 weeks).

Don't pay much attention to gas prices? Don't think it makes that much difference? Three months ago the average price of gas in Charlotte was somewhere around $3.89/gallon. That's a difference of $.42/gallon - which makes the fill-up of my car $7.14 less each time. That comes out to a difference of $28.56/month and $371.28/year - just with the difference of $.42/gallon! That's a savings I really appreciate! :-)

Lesson learned? Little difference make a huge impact! What could you do with an extra $371 this year? I certainly have some ideas . . .

Harris Teeter has Eggland's Cage Free Eggs on sale for $2.50/dozen (large). These are normally $3.99. I just sorted through my coupon binder (long over-due) and found tons of $.35 coupons for cage free or organic eggs. We all know that Harris Teeter will double that coupon - so you can get the eggs for only $1.80/dozen. That's a steal of a deal for these eggs!

Target has two deals that I'm particularly interested in.
Selected Pampers Value-Pack Diapers (normally $29.99) and Big-Pack Diapers (normally $19.79) are on clearance for 15% off. While that's not a huge discount, there are some coupons that you could stack:
Big-Pack Diaper Box (app 90 diapers or equivalent to 3 jumbo packs) @ 15% off = $16.82
Use Target $1.00 Coupon (came in the paper a while back)
Use $2.50 Manufacturer Coupon (I have lots of these and am not sure where I got them - only good on boxes)
Pay $13.32 or $4.44/pack

For those not interested in diapers. . .

Get a free $5 gift card when you buy any two Gillette items listed: Gillette Fusion ProGlide manual razor, cartridges, Venus razors and cartridges.
Buy Gillete Fusion ProGlide Razor for $9.79
Buy 4-count Gillette Fusion ProGlide manual cartridges for $16.99
Use Buy One Gillette Fusion 4-count or larger cartridge, get ONE Gillette Fusion Razor Free Manufacturer coupon (came in last Sunday's P&G Insert in the paper)
Pay $16.79
Get back $5 gift card
Pay the equivalent of $11.79 for a razor and 4 cartridges (regular cost would be $26.78 - so this is nearly 60% off!!!)

UPDATE: Just got back from Target and here's the latest:
Razors: Make sure you pick up only the manual razors, the gift card doesn't work with the power ones. My total after you factor in the gift card and my 5% savings by using my Redcard, was only $12.92!
Diapers: The size of the "big packs" is the rough equivalent of 2 jumbo packs. They are not packaged in boxes, so you can't use a "box" coupon on it. The Value-Packs have 132 diapers (for size 3) and were marked down to $25.48 (after the 15% discount). After the two coupons I had, the price was $21.98, or the equivalent to $6/jumbo-pack. Not a phenomenal price, but definitely better than I've been able to do recently.

Cinemark Theaters is offering something similar as well! You can pay $1 at the box office, or if you purchase 10 show tickets in advance, you pay a total of $5 (only $.50 per movie)!!! There are no theaters here in Charlotte that are participating, but I know I have some readers from my home town of Monroe, LA - and the Cinemark theater there is participating! Harris Teeter Reminders

Just a little friendly reminder to get to Harris Teeter by
May 22nd (Tuesday) to take advantage of Triple Coupons!!!

Also, starting today and running through Sunday,
you get 20% off any mix and match case of wine
AND 20% off specialty cheeses!

FWIW: My favorite new wine is Contempo Merlot!
It's recently been reduced to $9.99/bottle (originally $15.99)
Buy 12 bottles @ $9.99 = $119.88
Get 20% off this weekend = $23.97 discount
Pay $95.91 for 12 bottles of wine that originally would have cost $191.88!!!

SavingStar Incentives

SavingStar (e-coupon service) is offering up
two special incentives!

The first is for Huggies products! Here are the details: Now through June 13, 2012 get $5.00 back when you spend $35.00 on any HUGGIES® Diapers, Baby Wipes and LITTLE SWIMMERS® Swimpants. Offer does not include GOODNITES® Brand and PULL-UPS® Brand products.

You can pair this deal with the Huggies Promotion at Rite Aid next week for a pretty sweet deal! Rite Aid is offering $10 Up+ Reward on any $30 Huggies purchase. So, you could do the following:

Buy 3 packages of diapers @ $11 each (approximate cost)
Buy 1 package of wipes @ $2.99
Total: $35.99
Use three $1.50/1 Manufacturer Coupons  for diapers (they are floating around out there - might have to do some digging)
Use $.50/1 Manufacturer Coupon for Wipes
Pay $30.99
Get back $10 Up+ Rewards Cash
Get $5 deposited into SavingStar Account
Net Paid: $15.99 for 3 packages of diapers and 1 package of baby wipes!

The 2nd Promotion they're running is on Snyders of Hanover products! Now through the end of May 2012, get $5.00 when you spend $15.00 on any Snyder's of Hanover Pretzels. This offer expires on May 31, 2012.

Proportionally, this is a much better incentive! Although, the only coupon I could find to possibly pair with this deal, is on the Earth Fare website. If you go here and scroll down about 1/2 way - you'll see a Manufacturer Coupon for 75¢ off any Snyder's of Hanover 16 oz Pretzel or Tortilla Chip product. However, it also says in small print above the bar code "Redeemable only at Earth Fare stores". So this is a question I don't have the answer to at this point: If it is a MF Coupon, you should be able to use it anywhere. But since it says only redeemable at Earth Fare, that may nullify the before mentioned "rule". I would say that you could try to use it - and then be prepared to have it turned away - but I don't want to promote fraudulent use of coupons. So if anyone out there reading this (Hollie???) knows the answer, please help! If you can use the coupon - this would be a great week to use it at Harris Teeter with triple coupons! You could get the following deal:

Buy 6 bags of Snyder's of Hanover Pretzels or Chips @ $2.99 (estimate only) = $17.94
Use 6 75¢ MF Coupons (may have to print from several printers) - which will triple to $2.25 each = $13.50
Pay $4.44
Get $5 back in your SavingStar Account
Net Pay: $0 + 66¢ Money Maker!!!

**Make sure to have your Harris Teeter VIC number and your Rite Aid Wellness card number entered into your SavingStar Account - so it can track your purchases! If you're unfamiliar with SavingStar - click here to find out more!

Charmin and Bounty Deals at HT!!!

Woohoo! Harris Teeter has Bounty and Charmin on eVIC special this weekend (only Saturday for the Bounty)! Here's what you need to do:

Charmin 9 pack Mega Roll  - $7.77 each (normally around $12)
Load $1.00 eVIC coupon
Use 25¢ Manufacturer Coupon (will double to 50¢) - from the 4/29 P&G
Pay $6.22 each

Note: Mega Rolls claim to be the equivalent to 4 regular rolls. That means that a 9 pack is the equivalent to 36 regular rolls, which means each roll is about 17¢. Most serious couponers stock up when they can get it for 25¢ or less per roll, so this is a fantastic deal! You can buy two packages at the discounted price!

Bounty 8 Giant Rolls - $8.77 (SATURDAY ONLY)
Load $1.00 eVIC coupon
Use 25¢ Manufacturer Coupon (will double to 50¢) - from the 4/29 P&G
Pay $7.22 each

Note: 8 Giant Rolls are equivalent to 12 regular size rolls - which is like paying 60¢ per roll! Pretty good deal for Bounty! You can get 2 at the discounted price, but ONLY on Saturday.

Hoarding Note: I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do the Bounty Deal. I'll definitely do the Charmin because my supply is getting low (as in non-existent). But I have a 12 Giant Roll  Pack and 6 regular rolls of Bounty in my stockpile. By my calculations (and we use A LOT of paper towels) - I already have about a 1 year supply of Bounty . . . This is such a great deal, but considering I already have more than my 6 months worth of supplies that I shoot for, I should probably pass this one up!

One more deal you may be interested in:
Honey Nut Cheerios - $1.97 - buy 2
Use $1/2 Coupon (from coupons.com or Swagbucks)
Load 50¢ eVIC Coupon
Pay $2.44 for 2 boxes or $1.22 each

Starbucks 1/2 Price Happy Hour

So, I'm a little behind on getting this one out, but there are still 5 days (including this one) to get in on this deal! Though I'm not a huge fan of Starbuck's hot coffee, I do LOVE their Frappuccinos (you can even order them sugar free and decaf)! From now until May 13th, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm - you can get any size Frappuccino for 1/2 off! That's a pretty good deal - considering that even their smallest size is about $3.50!

Want a way to stack a deal? Use your Viggle points to get a $5 Starbucks card (only 7,500 points). Then go to Starbucks during Happy Hour! You should be able to get 3 Tall Frappuccinos with your free $5 gift card!!! Now that's what I call a great deal! Don't forget to tip your Barista! :-)

Don't know what Viggle is? Check out this post for the scoop!

Some Interesting Deals

Tea-Baby
Are you familiar with this brand? I've seen it at a specialty children's boutique here in Charlotte, but I've only ever bought one item (on clearance) because it is pretty pricey! Well, if you go to the Tea-Baby website here, and enter code PLUMBABY50 at checkout - you can get a whopping 50% off your entire order! I did a mock order just to make sure it works - and it is super simple! Shipping is $7.00, or free is you order $150+! This would be a great way to get some super special/high quality items for a baby gift!!!

Lets-Pour Wine
So this is kind of a fun little deal-site that is for wine and beer! When you first sign up (through Facebook Connect) you can spin the wine bottle for discounts. They also have a few built-in discounts:

Also, when you sign-up through this link, you'll get $10 off your first purchase of $45 or more!
So, you could get 5 bottles of Wine Enthusiast Best Buy - 2009 Castillo de Monseran Carinena for only $10/bottle (normally priced at $20)!
5 x $10 = $50
- $10 discount for signing up
Total: $40 and FREE SHIPPING (for $100 worth of wine)

Netflix
Been waiting for a super good reason to give Netflix a try? Well, you've got it! Plum District is offering $15 Plum Dollars (that's money that you can apply to deals on Plum District) for signing up for a free 30 day Netflix Trial! The best deal I've seen previous to this was 1,000 SB for signing up - but that only translates to about $10 in gift cards. So, this is definitely a higher value! Absolutely no out-of-pocket expense to you (unless you decide to continue your Netflix membership beyond the 30 day trial) AND you make $15! That's pretty cool! If you're not a Plum District member yet, go here to sign-up! It's also free! :-)

Harris Teeter - Super Simple Laundry Detergent Deal
Gain Laundry Detergent (32 load size) is on sale for $4.99. Load the $1.00 eVic coupon to your account AND use a $1.00 paper manufacturer coupon. Total will be $2.99! It's rare to find Gain for that price!!!

eVIC Special at Harris Teeter

I just got notification from Harris Teeter that starting tomorrow (May 4th), they will have Barefoot wine for only $3.97/bottle! This special will only be available May 4th - 8th. This isn't my favorite "cheap" wine - but it is a great wine for parties - particularly the Chardonnay! You can only get 4 bottles, but here is an idea on how to stack savings - even on wine!

Buy 4 bottles of Barefoot Wine (normally $6.99/bottle) @ $3.97 = $15.88
Buy 2 bottles of Rex Goliath Wine @ $5.99 = $11.98
Total = $27.86
Get a 10% half-case discount = -$2.78
Pay $25.08
(would normally be $36 with the 1/2 case discount)

That comes out to an average of only $4.18/bottle!

Here and There

Harris Teeter is offering another P&G Promotion!
When you spend $40 IN ONE TRANSACTION on P&G items, you can submit your receipt through a mail-in rebate for a $10 Visa Prepaid Card! Keep in mind, this is BEFORE coupons are tendered! Purchases must be made in a single transaction and between the dates of May 2nd - May 8th, and must be postmarked by May 15th. Not sure what P&G distributes? Tide, Downy, Cascade, Dawn, Pampers, Gain, Gillette, Duracell, Bounty, NyQuill, Puffs, Always, Swiffer, Tampax, Charmin, and LOTS of others. So take a look at your Harris Teeter sales on these products, make sure your eVIC coupons are loaded, and see if you can find some paper manufacturer coupons as well! It's not hard to reach $40 before coupons!

Salsarita's Celebrates Cinco De Mayo
This Friday and Saturday you can score free chips and salsa at Salsarita's. They will also be having specials on margaritas and beer! And from what I understand, you can get your chips and salsa TO-GO! So stop by your a location closest to you and get some yummy chips and salsa (and maybe an adult beverage while you wait)!!!

Snip-its Hair Salon for Kids - Wacky Wednesday Offer!
Ok, this seriously looks like a place straight out of a Dr. Seuss book! How fun would this be for a kid?!?!?!  Wednesdays are Wacky with only $12 for a child's cut - or go to their website (www.snipits.com) and print off a $5.00 off coupon for any day of the week! Earth Day is Coming - FREEBIES!!!

Mark your Calendars for April 22nd!

Bring any reusable mug/cup to Caribou Coffee or Starbucks, and you'll get a free hot or cold beverage!

One of my favorite Earth Day Freebies is at Origins! You can trade in any bottle (empty or full) of facial cleanser or moisturizer and they will give you a free bottle of Origins high-performance, paraben free cleanser (while supplies last)! I LOVE their cleanser! Well worth it to make it out to Origins! For Charlotte people - there are two Origins locations in Southpark Mall: one near the food court next to Teavana and the other located in Belk!

FREE Tree from Lowe's!!! Yep, that's right - a tree! The picture on the Lowe's site is from last year, with last year's date - but I called Lowe's to confirm that they are participating again this year - and they said YES!!!

You can get free reusable totes at the following places:
Target
Disney Store (you'll need to bring in 5 plastic bags to "exchange")
H-E-B (you'll need to bring in 5 plastic bags to "exchange")
Jo-Ann Fabric (if you're one of the first 50 customers)

I'm sure there will be even more freebies as we get closer to the date, so check back often for additions to the list!!!

Would've, Should've, Could've

I made a silly rookie mistake: I let a Up+ Reward expire! I was so excited about my $4 in Up+ Rewards and had planned exactly what I was going to use it for - only to look at it closely and see that it expired YESTERDAY!!! Such a bummer!

So, if I had been the organized and "on top of things" person that I long to be, this is what I could've done (and my students would've LOVED the addition to the prize bag)! Mentos are on sale 4/$2 (regularly 69¢ each) + you get a $1 Up+ reward when you buy 4! My Plan:
Buy 8 Mentos for $4
Use my previously earned $4 Up+ Rewards
Pay only tax
Get another $2 in Up+ Rewards ($1 for each set of 4)

Buy another 4 Mentos for $2
Use my $2 Up+ Rewards
Pay only tax
Get another $1 Up+ Reward

Buy 2 more Mentos for $1
Pay Only Tax

Total: 14 Mentos Candies
Total Spent: Only Tax

I should've done it yesterday - but I didn't! Live and still learning. . . :-(

MoveStudio Charlotte - Amazing Savings!!!

MoveStudio Charlotte is a small, intimate Pilates, Yoga, and Dance studio in the Plaza Midwood area. I've been taking classes there since July of last year when I got a Living Social voucher. I figured I would just use my voucher (that was super cheap) and be done with it. Ha! I was hooked! I even paid full price ($15/class) for a while! Then they started offering an unlimited pass for $85/month. Since I was going twice a week, it made sense for me. Well, two days ago they released a new deal that saves you another 40% off the unlimited pass! It's a MoveStudio Charlotte Membership. You commit for 12 months for $50/month and you get the following:
  • unlimited classes
  • 15% off private and semi-private equipment sessions
  • 5% off any retails purchases

Now 12 months is a long time for people to commit sometimes. You may not have childcare during the summer and wonder if it's worth it if you're not able to go often. Or, you may be pregnant and know that you'll need to take 8-12 weeks off just before and after the baby comes! Well, they've allowed for that. You're allowed to freeze your membership one time during the 12 month period for up to 3 months! If you still want to come to classes during that time, you can - and you'll just pay as you go.

I LOVE MoveStudio because:
  • The classes are small - so I get a lot of personal attention
  • It's not super fancy and showy - but simple and intimate
  • The instructors are very knowledgeable and do a great job
  • I'm supporting a locally owned and operated business - run by a young mother like me!
Not sure you want to commit, having never been there? Try out one of their $5 promo classes! Here's what they're offering this month for only $5/class:

Wednesdays @ - 7:30 pm - Risque Fit
Thursdays @ 7:30 pm - Hip Hop
Saturdays @ 9:30 am - Yoga
Special: Sunday, April 22nd - 4:30 pm - Zumba
